LGRC- 2026 Kids Dance Lessons ends with a Bang! From First Steps to the Stage: LGRC Kids Dance Program Celebrates an Amazing Journey ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต What started as a simple idea to bring our children together through music, movement and culture has turned into something truly special for the Leppington Gurkhas Recreational Club community. Over the past 10 weeks, LGRCโ€™s Kids Dance Program has brought together children of different ages and abilities every Saturday, creating a space where they could learn, have fun, make friends and, most importantly, build confidence. Held at Leppington Progress Hall, the program welcomed children from our youngest dancers through to our older kids, with each group working with dedicated instructors to learn a dance routine in preparation for the upcoming Dashain celebrations. From nervous first steps to confident performers One of the most rewarding parts of the program has been watching the children's confidence grow week after week. For some of our youngest dancers, the first session was understandably a little overwhelming. Some were shy, some wanted to stay close to their parents, and others weren't quite ready to let go and join the group. But slowly, week by week, that changed. The children began following their teachers, learning the movements, remembering the choreography and, most importantly, enjoying themselves. By the final sessions, those same little ones were confidently joining in with the group. That transformation is something everyone involved can be incredibly proud of. An incredible achievement by our older dancers Our 8+ age group achieved something particularly special. They worked consistently throughout the program and successfully completed the entire dance routine โ€” giving them the opportunity to perform it on stage as part of LGRC's Dashain celebrations. Our 5โ€“8-year-old dancers also worked incredibly hard and successfully completed their routine. Seeing the children come together, remember their choreography and perform with confidence was a wonderful reward for all the effort they had put in throughout the term. More than just dance The program was never just about learning dance steps. It was about giving our children an opportunity to: โค๏ธ Build confidence ๐Ÿค Make new friends ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต Connect with Nepali culture and traditions ๐ŸŽต Express themselves through music and movement ๐ŸŒŸ Learn teamwork and commitment ๐Ÿ’ช Challenge themselves and try something new For parents, it was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other LGRC families and watch our children grow together. A huge thank you LGRC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and guardians who supported their children throughout the program. Thank you for bringing the kids every Saturday, encouraging them to participate, practising with them at home and cheering them on along the way. A special thank you also goes to our dance instructors for their patience, energy and dedication. Teaching a group of children across such a wide range of ages is no small task, and the progress we witnessed over the 10 weeks speaks volumes about their commitment. And, of course, the biggest congratulations go to our amazing LGRC kids! ๐Ÿ‘ You showed us that with a little encouragement, plenty of practice and a lot of fun, incredible things can happen. Looking ahead The success of this program has demonstrated once again what can happen when our LGRC community comes together to create opportunities for our children. From those nervous first steps to confidently performing together, the journey has been filled with smiles, laughter, friendship and plenty of proud moments. We hope this is only the beginning of many more LGRC programs that bring our children together, celebrate our culture and help the next generation grow with confidence. Well done, LGRC kids โ€” you made us incredibly proud! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต Leppington Gurkhas Recreational Club United through football, family, friendship and community.
